Taking bikes on trains banned at Sanya Railway Station
People can no longer carry bicycles, including folding ones, on trains at the Sanya Railway Station starting from January 10th, 2015.
The new ban, drawn up by the China Railway Corp, took effect on January 15th. The move is said to be aimed at creating more space for passengers on trains, which can be quite crowded, especially during busy public holidays.
Passengers can still take their bicycles on trains, but they must first dismantle them and pack the parts into suitable containers.
Meanwhile, under the regulations, rail passengers are allowed to carry up to 20 kilograms of luggage per person, as long as their combined dimensions do not exceed 1.6 meters cubed (or 1.3m cubed on bullet trains.)
