Sanya is set to launch a new batch of nearly 100 taxis downtown in a bid to meet the increasing need for taxis in the city.

The taxi number in Sanya is expected to reach 2,350 after the release of the new taxis in February, which will ease the transportation pressure during the 2015 Spring Festival.

Meanwhile, Sanya is also launching a series of policies cracking down on illegal taxis to protect the interests of tourists and residents.

The taxis shortage in Sanyas downtown is mainly due to the clash between the surging number of tourists and the invariable number of taxis. Another cause is the unfavorable condition of streets in Sanyas downtown as most of them are too narrow. Traffic jams are easily caused in the downtown area.
