Haikou-Macau direct flights to open on September 25
Haikou City
Starting September 25, 2015, there will be direct flights flying from Haikou to Macau.
The flights will be launched by Hainan Airlines and the new route will run three times per week every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday on a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
The move is amongst efforts by Hainan to boost the number of inbound tourists from Macau.
Hainan and Macau are complementary to each other in the tourism orientation. Hainan is a characteristic tropical coastal tourist destination while Macau is international metropolis-oriented tourist city. The Hainan tourism authorities hope to learn from Macau’s expertise in attracting international travelers.
The direct flights will save Macanese tourists visiting Hainan from having to transfer in Guangzhou, Hong Kong or Singapore, greatly shortening the travel time between the two cities.
Hainan and Macau, who are the memberships of Pan-Pearl River Delta Region, have been enjoying close economic and cultural exchanges. The new direct path will also help the already-thriving relationship to grow in many fields.
Additionally, the new air passageway will serve as a transfer hub for Hainan to expand its international tourist markets. Leisure and business travelers leaving from cities in Southeast Asian and Northeast Asian regions can enjoy a convenient new route to Hainan Island.
