Ruyi Island

According to the Haikou Government, the regulatory detailed planning and design of an artificial island called “Ruyi Island” has been officially approved.

It will be the third artificial island planned for Haikou following the Nanhai Pearl artificial island, on the west coastline, and the Haikou Bay artificial island.

According to the planning, the total landmass created will be about 716.34 hectares. With the initial investment of no less than 1.6 billion yuan for land building, the Ruyi Island project is to be built as an environmentally friendly and high-end tourism resort for fashion, leisure and sports.

This artificial island will contain an entertainment area, a commercial zone (office buildings, schools and hospital), a healthcare holiday zone, a leisure holiday zone and a transport distribution center.

An access sea-crossing bridge will be constructed, reaching the shore at Jiangdong New District.

The project aims to enhance the comprehensive competitiveness of Haikou Port and increase the pace of Hainan’s regional economic development.
