According to Sanya Phoenix Airport, the annual passenger throughput this year at Sanya Phoenix Airport exceeded 14 million as of December 14th, 2014.
 
To help boost Sanya its tourism market, the flight airspace in Hainan Island was adjusted early this year and 3 new air routes were opened to relieve air-traffic congestion for flights traveling to and from Sanya.
 
According to the local bureau, the expansion project of Sanya Phoenix Airport is ongoing. The number of aircraft parking aprons increased this year from 48 to 54, offering more running space for departing planes.
 
Up to now, 32 airline companies have entered Sanya Airport with 287 air routes currently in operation. The total passenger throughput of Sanya Airport is expected to reach 15 million by the end of this year.
