By handing out cash rewards for quality tip-offs by citizens, Sanya recently unveiled plans to encourage more civilians to report evidence of illegal acts affecting tourism across the city in a new drive of intensifying efforts to regulate the tourism market.

According to the reward scheme, rewards will range from RMB 1,000 to RMB 50,000, depending on the essential evidence of misconduct that leads to suspension and/or fines.

According to the rewards scheme, rewards will be given to people who report unqualified tour operators, commercial briberies, illegal business kickbacks, sales of fake jewelry, illegal price hikes, as well as information on other types of illegal activities that damage the interests of tourists.

The complaint hotlines, ‘12345’ and ‘12301’, will be open to take complaints regarding any illegal price hikes or inappropriate business behavior.
The rewards are intended to enhance the public’s supervision of tour operators’ behavior and encourage people to report any inappropriate activity.

This initiative, which will be conducted with coordination from several different departments, will commence on January 1st, 2015.
