An intelligent transport system introduced by the Sanya government is set to make commuting more efficient and more financially sustainable for communities and the traveling public. It is expected to be completed and go into service in March 2015.

In Sanya, an intelligent transport information management and control platform have been established and 660 buses and 1,767 taxis have been equipped with GPS and telematics systems this year.

Sanya plans to make better use of the system to monitor the distribution patterns of taxis at hotels as well as scenic spots in order to effectively ease the taxi shortage downtown.
Besides, vehicles’ real-time status, such as passenger load and position, can be monitored and sent to municipal databases in a bid to better guide the transportation system in Sanya.
