Sanya creates 66,083 acres of afforested areas as of the end of 2013
According to the Sanya Forestry Bureau, a total of 66,083 acres of afforested areas were built in Sanya as of the end of 2013, accounting for 123% of last year’s total planned afforested area work.
According to the Sanya ‘Greening Hainan’ project plan, a total of 8,300 acres of afforested areas were planted in 2013, including 12,445 acres in passageways, 4,079 in coastal shelter belts, 21,702 in villages, 5,841 along rivers and reservoirs, as well as 13,801 acres of urban forest and 8,216 acres of ecological economic forest.
Officials from the Forestry Bureau said that they will continue to advance the ‘Greening Island’ project (between 2011-2014) and further increase the forest coverage rate of Sanya
