Sanya is planning to renovate and maintain 28 public toilets this year to bring them up to modern standards.

With an increasing floating population in recent years, public toilets at major gathering places like Egret Park, Dadonghai, and Luhuitou Square in Sanya have seen increasing demands.

However, the excessive tourism also causes facility problems for these toilets. Some ignorant tourists often show no respect for such a beautiful place with their improper practices. Some of the public toilets have been damaged and abused.

"The most difficult task is how to raise the public’s attention to preserving and maintaining the public toilets. If we only depend on the sanitary workers it will be a very huge task." said an official.
 
The urban public toilets in Sanya will be greatly improved after this transformation. Residents and tourists, even people with disabilities, will have a more convenient and cleaner toilet environment.
