Sanya rolls out plans to tackle winter air pollution
A citywide regulation for air quality control in Sanya was outlined by the Land and Environmental Resources Department of Sanya. The regulation aims to prevent potential air pollution in Sanya’s winter.
Winter is usually the peak season for Sanya tourism and many tourists from northern cities fly to Sanya for winter holiday. The increasing number of vehicles and human activities in Sanya will create air quality concerns.
According to the plan, the government will organize special street cleaning work when it is in effect. Additionally, construction companies with huge pollutant emission will be ordered to reduce their production.
Heavily polluting vehicles, popularly known as ‘yellow label cars’, will be prohibited from driving on roads in the city. Also, outdoor BBQ’s will be strictly limited in urban areas in order to curb air pollution
