On July 1st, the Haikou-Zhengzhou route officially opened at Haikou Railway Station, which now means that passengers can take a train directly to Zhengzhou of Henan Province from Haikou.
 
The current railway journey between Haikou and Zhengzhou takes 33 hours and 37 minutes.
 
The Haikou-Zhengzhou Train K458 departs at 1:10 p.m., and it arrives at 10:47 p.m. the next day. The Zhengzhou-Haikou Train K457 departs at 10:45 a.m., and it arrives at 6:57 p.m. the next day.
 
Both trains will call at key city stations midway. They include Wuhan (which on these trains will be served by the railway station of Wuchang), Changsha, Guilin North, Liuzhou, and Zhanjiang West.
 
The new service only brings the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou closer to Haikou, but also adds a new rail service from Hainan Island to the rest of the mainland.
