Sanya is planning to improve traffic conditions in the coming years by adding more parking lots and enhancing the utilization of underground space.

Every day an average of 100 new cars are registered in the city, causing an increasing amount of serious traffic jams on Sanya’s roads.

Along with heavy traffic congestion, the lack of parking lots has been a development woe for the city. More than 3,600 new emergency parking spaces were added recently at several major scenic spots to ease the parking problems across the city during the major national holidays.

According to government planning, the government will invest and build 11 public parking lots across the city by 2015.

The 11 public parking lots are mainly located in Dadonghai, Youyi Road, Jinjiling Road and the Hexi District area, offering 1,300 additional parking spaces for vehicles.
