9 vendors detained in Sanya for ripping off tourists in 2014
9 seafood and fruit stall operators in Sanya have been detained for ripping off tourists since the government launched a strict crackdown in Sanya’s tourism markets.
The 9 operators were found using defective electronic scales to cheat tourists by shorting the weight of fruit/seafood products.
Previously, to prevent vendors from ripping off tourists, the local government had designated a single qualified electronic scale and all seafood and fruit operators were required to use it.
According to local authorities, industry players who are found to have severely violated rules or cheated customers will face a fine of up to 500,000 yuan
