Sanya’s Vice Mayor Mrs Xv Zhenling shares some insights on the development of Sanya’s cruise tourism industry at 9th China Cruise Shipping 2014 Conference in Tianjin.

Led by Sanya’s Vice Mayor Mrs Xv Zhenling, the Sanya delegation attended the 9th China Cruise Shipping 2014 Conference (CCS9 2014), which is being held from October 15th to 17th in Tianjin.

Being the “south gate of China” and a favorite tourist beach resort city, Sanya has a year-round climate conducive to cruise calls.

The Sanya Phoenix Island International Cruise Terminal (PIICT) phase two development program is underway, including four more berths for varying ship sizes of up to 225,000 tons.

When completed, PIICT will be able to berth five ships at the same time. This is part of a larger Phoenix Island development plan, which includes a man-made island, a seven-star hotel and an international conference center.

This year, the event has attracted over 100 exhibitors from both government and private sector companies and entities specializing in the cruise industry from 10 countries around the world.

It is the most professional and international cruise industry event in China. Since November 2006, the event has been held successfully in Shanghai, Xiamen, Beijing, Sanya, Shenzhen and Tianjin.
