The 2014 First Sanya International Poetry Festival, with the theme of ‘Poetic Sanya, Romantic Sanya’ kicked off at the Ramada Plaza Sanya on October 14th.

The poetry festival has attracted over 100 renowned poets and scholars from China, America, Sweden, Portugal and Russia.

The festival will last three days and the poets will gather in Tianyahaijiao, Dongtian Park, Yalong Bay Tropical Rainforest Park and International Rose Valley for poetry readings and cultural exchanges during the Festival.

"This poetry festival in Sanya will also mobilize the public in the city to participate through various online and offline activities, helping foster an environment that will encourage everyone to learn more about poetry," said Sun Su, the director of the Publicity Department of the Sanya Municipal Government.
