The Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15 kicked off in Alicante, Spain on October 11th (Spain Time), with a total of 7 sailing teams, including the Chinese Dongfeng Team, participating.

According to the organizing committee, the sailing fleet contains 10 stopover cities with Sanya as the fourth stopover. The sailing fleet is expected to stop at Sanya Serenity Marina on Janurary 24th, 2015 and stay for 15 days.

In preparation for the Volvo Ocean Race 2014-15, a Sanya delegation headed to Alicante to attend the inaugural ceremony and also took the opportunity to visit the Volvo Ocean Race headquarters to exchange ideas with the relevant authorities, vowing to strengthen its promotions on the international market with the help of the Volvo Ocean Race authorities.

The Volvo Ocean Race is an exceptional test of sailing prowess and human endeavour which has been built on the spirit of great seafarers. The race began in Alicante, Spain on October 11th and will visit Recife, Abu Dhabi, Sanya, Auckland, Itajaí, Newport, Lisbon, Lorient and Gothenburg.
