The Environmental Protection Ministry recently published its May list of air quality levels in 74 Chinese cities. According to the list, Haikou’s air quality ranked best among the 74 cities.
 
The top 10 cities with the best air quality in May were: Haikou, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Shenzhen, Zhoushan, Dongguan, Foshan and Lhasa.
 
The top 10 cities with the worst air quality were Tangshan, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Xingtai, Baoding, Xuzhou, Wuhan, Hengshui, Taiyuan and Handan.
 
The ministry releases monthly red and black lists of the air quality of the 74 major cities in China in an effort to encourage local governments to pay more attention to the increasingly serious air pollution problem in China.
