The artificial nourishment of the beach in Sanya Bay is currently underway with sand being brought in from the Sanya Central Fishing Port.

The project is being done quickly and the work is set to be completed by the end of this month.

The beach nourishment is the first of its kind in China, with a total investment of over 20 million yuan. The project involves the beach area from Jinjiling Road to Guangming Road, which stretches 2.6 km and covers a width of 30 meters.

Sanya Bay’s beach not only provides recreation for beachgoers and fishermen, but plays a much more critical role for the city and its citizens when faced with a coastal storm.
