Sanya is seeing a tourism boom during the National Day holiday with self-driving tourists flooding into the city’s major scenic spots.

 

According to the Sanya Holiday Office, as of October 3rd alone, the traffic volume on roads in Sanya city center was about 108,739, a year-on-year increase of 4%. Among them, 48,937 were from outside the island and arrived during the holiday, representing a year-on-year increase of 5%.

 

On the same day, the 5 parking lots at the Yalong Bay Tropical Rainforest Park were packed with tourist vehicles. Most of them drove from cities and provinces in the southwest of China, such as Guangxi, Sichuan, Hunan, Chongqing and Guangzhou.

 

Hotels in Sanya have also seen occupancy levels booming due to the increase of tourists during the holiday. Major star-related hotels in Sanya Bay, Yalong Bay and Haitang Bay saw an average hotel occupancy rate exceeding 82% on October 3rd.
