A new Shengli Road reconstruction project in Sanya is scheduled to start at the end of this year, according to a detailed plan released by the local government.

Under the plan, Shengli Road will be rebuilt and expanded to Urban Class II Standards.

The reconstruction project involves a total length of about 4.4 kilometers, stretching from Jinjiling Road in the north to Jiangang Road in the south. After the expansion of Shengli Road, the road will be 35-40 meters wide.

In Sanya, Shengli Road is a major road for the city. As more vehicles are running in the city, the current 20-meter-wide road can hardly meet the increased traffic demands.

In the near future, a new modern tram line system will be built along Shengli Road to advocate a low-carbon lifestyle and reduce the growing traffic pressure in the city.
