The section of Jiefang Road from Xinfeng Street to Yifang Shopping Mall was closed on August 20th for the expansion project of Jiefang Road to reduce vehicle congestion downtown.

The closure is scheduled to last until October 10th, 2014.

Sanya’s Transport Bureau said 19 bus routes have been changed during the construction, including lines 2, 4, 7 and 8.

Vehicles heading for the road section linking Xinfeng Street and Yifang Shopping Mall are required to bypass the construction area.

Besides, Shengli Road, Sanya Bay Road and Yuejin Road, which are open with one-direction traffic, are being adjusted to two-direction traffic during the construction.

According to the plan, the 1,023-meter-long Xinfeng Street to Heping Street section of Jiefang Road will be expanded from 20 meters to 27 meters wide, with two-direction four-lane runways, including a 3.5-meter-wide non-vehicle lane in each direction.

The widening project is expected to be completed in the second half of this year.
