The Baoping Village in Sanya’s Yacheng Town has been listed among the first batch of recognized traditional Chinese villages in 2014.

The so-called traditional villages are intangible heritage sites with precious historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, social and economic value.

Located 4km southwest of Yacheng Town, Baoping Village is the birthplace of Yazhou folk songs, which have been listed as national intangible cultural heritage pieces.

According to researchs, Baoping Village has 210 local-style dwellings covering an area of 0.25 square kilometers and most of them have been well-preserved and retain great historical value. With talented people coming forth in large numbers in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Baoping Village was a prosperous and famous village in ancient times.

Yacheng Town has been selected at the provincial level as a historical and cultural town. The ancient town has well-protected ancient buildings and rich historical and cultural heritage which covers over 20,000 square meters.
