On the morning of May 7th, the president of the Mille Miglia organizing committee, Mr. Alessandro Casali, met with the relevant authorities of the Hainan Department of Culture, Radio, Television, Publication and Sports, and had discussions on the preparation work for the Mille Miglia style car race event.
 
Haikou, also known as “Coconut City”, will be treated to a taste of Italy this year, as a classic motorsports event will take place at the tropical tourist destination.
 
The city will host its own version of Italy’s world-renowned Mille Miglia classic car road race at the end of this year.

The Mille Miglia (Thousand Miles) was an open-road endurance race which took place in Italy twenty-four times from 1927 to 1957.
 
As one of the most exciting events on the classic car calendar, the Mille Miglia has long served as a symbol of Italy. The race has changed over the course of time, yet the tradition, sport and style of the event remains. Today, the evolving culture of the Mille Miglia is celebrated worldwide and now, for the first time, in Hainan.
