The Sanya government has announced its plan to increase its safety management of the fishing boats across the city.

During the campaign, the relevant department will focus on the data management of fishing boats, safety and security inspections and supervision on the quality of fishing equipment.

Currently, there are about 1,117 small and large fishing boats in the city and the campaign will last for two years.

The owners of fishing boats are required to have a license for the boat and its equipment.

Fishing boats found to be using unqualified boating equipment and failing to meet the safety detection regulations will be ordered to suspend operations until they upgrade.

Besides, the law enforcement authorities will tighten inspections on the fishing equipment operators at the city’s ports, and those who operate without licenses and found selling unqualified fishing products will be strictly punished
