The 2014 16th Annual Youth Model Plane Finals kicked off on August 3rd at the Sanya Sports Center, with more than 2,000 youth players from 24 teams from all over China attending the 3-day contest.

20 events are scheduled to mark the contest, including a Model Helicopter game and a Model Gliders time trial as well as a Model Paper Airplane Linear Distance race. During the period, all the competition events are open for free to the public.

The Youth Model Plane competition has been held in Hainan for 3 consecutive years.

But the competition was founded in 1992, and is the biggest science education competition in China, attracting millions of young people every year. The event this year is co-organized by the Aviation Wireless Electric Model Administration Centre and the Sanya Bureau of Culture and Sports.
