Sanya has seen over 6.75 million tourist arrivals in the first half of this year, up 11.04% from the same period of last year, according to the local tourism authorities.

At the same time, Sanya’s tourism revenue rose 16.67% to 15.2 billion this year, and the average hotel occupancy rate reached 60.3%, up 3.33% compared with last year.

According to the statistics released by Sanya Phoenix Airport, the top 9 tourist source cities were Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Harbin, Zhengzhou, Xi’an and Hangzhou.

The growth rate of individual tourists has exceeded that of group tour tourists with most of them being individual travelers including self-driving tourists and family groups.

Sanya has enjoyed rapid growth in its cruise tourism industry in recent years. In the first six months, Sanya received 55,170 international cruise passengers and 47,317 domestic cruise passengers.
