Affected by the traditional off-season, which usually lasts from April to September, hotels in Sanya Bay are now experiencing a significant downturn.

The average hotel occupancy rate in Sanya Bay has dropped to below 40%, despite many promotions and special offers that have been launched recently to lure tourists.

Compared to Sanya Bay, hotels in Yalong Bay have so far seen higher occupancy rates in the off-season. The average occupancy rate of most of the hotels in Yalong Bay is above 50%, especially on the weekends when the rate often even exceeds 60%.

Meanwhile, as an emerging tourist resort, Haitang Bay is seeing the low occupancy rates of less than 30%. According to an insider, the local hotels will continue to struggle with occupancy rates in the off-season over the coming years due to the quick development of the hotel industry in the area
