Haikou to host ’21st Century Maritime Silk Road’ Film Festival
The 2015 ‘21st Century Maritime Silk Road’ Film Festival will be held in Haikou from May 29th-31st.
The festival is an important cultural activity supporting the country’s “One Belt and One Road” initiatives.
In 2013, President Xi Jinping put forward the strategic conception of building the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and "21st Century Maritime Silk Road," known shortly as the "One Belt and One Road" initiative.
The 3-day event will screen around 100 movies, including foreign films from countries along the Maritime Silk Road such as India, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines and Malaysia.
There will also be a number of activities related to film and TV exchanges, including screenplay trade, the Haikou Gold Island Music Festival and a selection of Hainan’s top 10 film shooting locations.
