Sanya sees decline in tourist arrivals in Q1 of 2014
Travel agents in Hainan received a total of 1.58 million domestic tourist arrivals in the first quarter of 2014, a year-on-year decrease of 23.8%, while overseas tourists numbered 38,200, down 33.6% year-on-year, according to the Hainan Travel Agents Report for Q1 2014 released by the Hainan Provincial Tourism Development Commission.
In the first three months of 2014, the number of domestic visitors to Sanya arranged by regional travel agents dropped by 39.8% year-on-year to 858,200 in the first quarter of 2014, and Haikou saw 722,500 tourists, a year-on-year increase of 10.1%.
The report also showed that the top 5 cities for receiving domestic tourist arrivals in Hainan were Sanya, Haikou, Ledong, Danzho and Qionghai.
As for tourist arrivals from the overseas tourist resources market, the top ten destinations were Russia, Taiwan, Italy, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea, Canada, Indonesia, Singapore and Vietnam.
