Downtown Sanya has never had any large movie theaters, and whenever residents want to enjoy a top audio-visual recreational screening experience they are always bothered with the long-distance drive to Haitang Bay, which is quite inconvenient. This situation will be rectified soon as a new IMAX movie theater is under construction in the Dadonghai area. It is scheduled to open in mid-July.

The IMAX movie theater, invested in by the Hainan ZOSE Cultural Communication Co., Ltd, will be located in a newly built mega-mall in Dadonghai, with a total area of 6,000 square meters.

The cinema has 7 large-scale halls including 1 IMAX screen, 5 super-luxury digital halls, and 1 special digital hall for couples which can accommodate up to nearly 1,400 people.

The IMAX screen is 22 meters in width and 12 meters in height and can accommodate 380 people. Unlike ordinary screens, the IMAX screen promises movie-goers crystal clear images, powerful digital sound and wider views to create a uniquely immersive movie experience.
