Meteorological staffs in Sanya performed artificial rain enhancement on June 11, helping ease the continued heat wave that has seared the city since May.
 
 
At 4:00pm on Wednesday, a rocket loaded with cloud-seeding chemicals was fired during a mission of artificial rain enhancement in Baogang Village, Yacheng Town in Sanya. 
      
Meteorological staffs in Sanya turned to artificial rain enhancement on June 11, helping ease the continued heat wave that has seared the city since May.

At 4:00pm on Wednesday, a rocket loaded with cloud-seeding chemicals was fired during an artificial rain enhancement deployment in Baogang Village, Yacheng Town in Sanya, where the average temperature has been reaching 34-35 degrees Celsius.

Besides, Sanya meteorological authorities are gearing up to induce more artificial rain as light to moderate rain is forecast to hit the parts of Hainan this week.

The artificial rain will be mainly produced over large reservoirs in the city to increase reservoir storage capacities.

Since mid-May, the continuous high temperatures have caused severe power and water shortages across the city.
