Sanya releases 2013 annual environmental quality report
The Sanya Municipal Bureau of Land and Resources recently released the 2013 Report on Environmental Quality of Sanya. The environment monitoring results showed that the quality of water and air in 2013 was stable compared with that of last year.
In 2013, the air quality index for more than 99.7% of the days was recorded good and fair and average concentrations of sulfur dioxide (SO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) reached the national grade I quality standard.
According to the environmental monitoring authority, drinking water sources in the city met the Grade II national surface water quality standard. Most of the water quality was good on the whole except water quality in some water sections had slight pollution.
In terms of noise pollution, the annual noise pollution under the monitoring program was higher as that of previous year.
By the end of 2013, the public green area per capita in Sanya had reached 18.97 square meters, and the city’s green coverage ratio was 41.61%.
