Sanya police have stepped up security patrols at populated areas in the wake of the recent knife attacks at railway stations across China.

On May 11th, tougher security inspections began in over 10 of the major crowded places such as Sanya Railway Station, Dadonghai, Haiyue Square and Sanya Library, to provide a better firewall against violent incidents.

Besides, a group of 24-hour armed police officers have been deployed at the Sanya Railway Station in an effort to maintain stability and handle terrorist acts and violent crimes in a rapid and effective way.

The regular urban security patrols involve police from the Sanya Special Police Force, the Public Order Response Bureau, traffic control officers and other emergency response departments.
