Sanya issues notice on urban drainage and sewage treatment

The Sanya government issued a notice recently on urban drainage and sewage treatment for the prevention and control of water pollution as part of its efforts to raise the quality of resources during rapid urbanization.

According to the notice, wastewater should be discharged by all industries only with a license.

Otherwise, enterprises that discharge sewage through urban drainage facilities without any approval from the relevant department will be ordered to suspend operations and face a fine of up to 500,000 yuan.

In order to avoid discovery by authorities, in recent years, many enterprises in the city have been mixing the use of existing pipes, which were initially used for collecting and discharging rainwater, to directly discharge combined sewage into the ocean.

The local government has shown great concern with the situation. The licensing notice on urban drainage and sewage treatment is expected to effectively regulate the management of the urban sewage system.
