Sanya is launching a variety of measures and promotional campaigns to boost the city’s tourism industry during the upcoming off-season.

Sanya has been a major city in Hainan for overseas tourism as the inbound tourist arrivals from overseas reached 111,400 in the first quarter of this year, according to statistics released by the Sanya Tourism Bureau.

To build Sanya into an international tourist destination, the local government will increase promotional activities to further expand overseas tourist markets such as Russia, Mongolia, India and Australia and introduce MICE and wedding tourism products to local tourists.

Besides, Sanya is planning to give great attention to promoting tourism in the Southeast Asian market, like Singapore, Korea and Thailand to lure more overseas tourists.

Since many airline companies like Jetstar Asia and Hainan Airlines launched regular flights between Hainan and Singapore, the number of Singaporean tourists visiting Sanya has been increasing rapidly.

As for domestic cities, the government also is working together with other counties and cities in Hainan to launch the Sanya Cool Summer Tourism Promotional Campaign to introduce the special preferential summer tourism products to over 12 major domestic cities
