Sanya sees outbound tourism boom during May Day holiday
According to Sanya’s travel agencies, more residents in Sanya are choosing to travel to overseas countries rather than holiday inside China during the May Day holiday.
Travel operators attribute the prospective increases to higher demand and lower airfare.
According to qunar.com, on May 1st alone, flights to Korea are seeing an airfare price average of 818 yuan while flights to Singapore stood at 948 yuan.
In response to the shorter holiday, travel agents have developed 5/7-day short-distance overseas tours. Popular destinations include Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
