According to Hainan’s relevant departments, direct flights between Haikou and Russia are set to open in March, 2015.

The flights will be operated twice per week and are expected to bring about 20,000 tourists to Haikou each year after its launch.

In recent years, the local government has attached great importance to the aviation sector and increased its financial subsidies to boost the area’s airline industry development.

Currently, Haikou has opened direct charter flights to Saint Petersburg and Yekaterinburg of Russia, Ulan Bator of Mongolia and Almaty of Kazakhstan.

In order to lure more overseas tourists, the Haikou government is planning to launch more than 6 international direct flight services this year. Haikou-Bangkok direct flights will be launched at the end of this month.
