The construction of Haikou Meilan Airport’s parking apron was completed and put into use recently after the relevant departments conducted a safety check.

Currently, the airport’s aircraft parking apron covers a total area of 495,000 square meters, offering 65 parking places for planes.

The new aircraft parking apron will help to enhance the airport’s capacity to handle big events as well as increase efficiency in passenger handling in the peak season.

The annual throughput of the Haikou Meilan Airport has seen rapid growth in recent years. In 2014, the passenger throughput of the airport hit 13.85 million with year-on-year increases of 12%.
