The artificial beach nourishment project of Sanya Bay is to begin at the end of this April, according to the Sanya Marine and Fishery Bureau.

The project involves the beach area from Jinjiling Road to Guangming Road, which stretches 2.6 km and covers a width of 30 meters.

Sanya Bay is one of the 6 major bays in Sanya. In recent years, the beach has suffered severe erosion due to the seasonal typhoons and the influence of human activities. Besides, the access connecting streets and offshore greeneries have been seriously damaged.

About 225,300m3 of sand is estimated to be necessary to build this artificial beach, and the sand will be transported from the Sanya Central Fishing Port to nourish a long lasting beach.
