Sanya is taking the opportunity to build itself into a winter base camp for Chinese sailboats after a series of world-class sailing events.

The "Aloha Cup” 2014 Round Hainan Regatta is being held in Hainan from 21st – 28th March, with the starting point and the finishing point in Sanya, which provides a big chance for Sanya to step closer to becoming the winter base camp for Chinese sailboats.

With beautiful beaches and a pleasant climate, Sanya is the ideal place for water sports. Many sailing training bases have settled down in Sanya in recent years.

Founded on May 1st, 2011, Yomove was the earliest sailing club and team that set up in Sanya. Based on the beach in Luhuitou Village, the club now has two FE26s, two Weta trimarans and one FE19 for practicing and racing.

On December 22nd, 2012, China’s first women’s sailing team was set up at Yalong Bay Yacht Club. The team consisting of 9 sailors has received an extensive range of training and professional instructions to represent Yalong Bay Yacht Club by participating in a series of professional sailing races.

And the newly-constructed Sanya Serenity Marina, which is the only international level yacht dock in Hainan, provides the supporting facilities to build a reputation for sailing in Hainan. The marina has 320 standard berths with enough port depth for all types of sailboats and yachts.
