China’s premiere luxury lifestyle show, the Hainan Rendez-Vous, which will be again held in Sanya from March 27 to 30, and will continue to give another lift to the local Sanya economy, while further elevating the city’s image as an emerging hub for the international yachting community.

This year, the event is drawing a significant portion of the world’s major yacht companies as well as more ultra-lifestyle brands to the shores in the area. And the number of invited VIPs is expected to account for 20% of the total figure.

Created in 2010 and strongly backed by the government, the Hainan Rendez-Vous forms part of the plan to build the city into a high-end international tourism destination and develop the area’s yachting-related business.

The city now has a total of 3 yacht clubs, offering more than 1,000 berths for yacht docking. The number of registered private yachts in Sanya has reached 189. In order to foster the development of the yacht industry, Sanya announced plans to build 3,070 yacht berths over the next 10 years.

From 2010 to 2013, the visitors entering the main fairgrounds where the event’s yacht show and ultra-lifestyle exhibition were held have risen from 5,000 to 23,135. In 2013 alone, the event’s on-site transactions even reached 1 billion yuan.
