The London Edition is all that for many reasons, and it has us properly excited for what’s to come: New York and Miami Beach are up first in the States, but after that Edition is heading for more exotic destinations – Sanya in China and Gurgaon in India. Virtually nothing is known about these hotels, but that didn’t stop us from unearthing these renderings already.

The Sanya Edition (above) will open in 2015 on the Chinese island of Hainan. Referred to as China’s Hawaii, nearly every luxury hotel group (from sibling Ritz-Carlton to Mandarin Oriental and Kempinski to One&Only) is rushing to claim their spot along Sanya’s beaches and vie for the attention of the increasingly wealthy and wanderlust-filled Chinese tourist. The curved building looks huge (spot the tiny cars under the soaring porte cochere for a sense of scale), with some kind of lattice wood construction over the main entrance, a design reflected again it appears in the façade.

This is the only other visual to go along with the exterior, showing what we guess is a beach bar (the tables and chairs look to be set in the sand) and the palm trees to go along with Sanya’s tropical climate (Sanya’s average yearly temperatures range from 23C (73F) to 30C (86F)).

A year after Sanya, Edition has its sights on the Indian city of Gurgaon. Never heard of it? We looked it up for you: it’s near the capital of New Delhi and is seeing such an influx of corporations and rapid urbanization that it now has the third highest per capita income in the whole country. Indian hotel group Oberoi opened a rather extravagantly designed hotel here last year.

The Gurgaon Edition’s first renderings certainly give us a bit of a business-y vibe, with two main wings connected by a glass core structure. In total, it should house about 250-280 guestrooms with no doubt a range of restaurants and other facilities to go along with those.

Based on the above, that will include a large swimming pool with pool-side seating. Perhaps this will be part of a large roof deck and garden situated on top of the lower wing? Only time will tell.

Other Editions we’re eager to see more of include Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, and Shanghai (2016), Wuhan (China) and Paris (both 2017). Stay tuned.
