The Sanya trash-burning power plant is scheduled to start trial operations on October 20, 2014, according to the local government.

With highly advanced technology and equipment, the plant is designed to process 1,050 tons of household waste per day in a green way.

The first phase of the project, with a total investment of 430 million yuan, is designed to deal with a maximum of 700 tons of household waste per day in garbage treatment capacity and the second phase will add 350 tons to make a total of 1,050 tons every day.

Besides, the kitchen waste treatment center, which started construction last December, will be completed ahead of this July and put into operation in October.

The two projects are part of Sanya’s environmental protection projects for avoiding and reducing food waste.
