To promote the development of the cruise tourism industry, the frontier inspection station in Sanya has a new clearance system that allows for Chinese tourists to only need their identity cards to apply for a boarding card for cross-board cruise tours.

Sanya has expended greatly its efforts into developing its cruise economy over the recent years. Last year, Sanya launched a financial subsidy policy to cruise companies that use Sanya as a homeport for their international cruise routes.

Besides, a "Sanya Cruise Tourism Development Specific Plan" was rolled out to show the government’s determination to building Sanya into a regional hub for the fast growing cruise ship tourism industry.

In addition, the Passenger Inspection Services Building at the cruise terminal on Phoenix Island will be upgraded to ensure smooth and seamless service to passengers. Upon completion, the waiting area of the passenger inspection services building will be expanded to 2,000 sqm, which is capable of handling around 2,000 passengers a day.
