Large quantities of fake commodities of 1 million yuan in worth were destroyed in Sanya on March 15, the World’s Consumer Rights Day, in an effort to bring attention to the government’s battle against counterfeit goods.

A total of 37,434 fake goods covering alcohol, tobacco, edible oil, beverages and name brand watches were safely destroyed.

In recent years, the Sanya Commerce and Industry Bureau has mainly targeted food, medicine, daily necessities and home supply appliances, which are closely related to consumer life.

According to statistics, since 2013, the local bureau received 3,500 consumer complaints, among which included 2,196 poor products complaints and 1,346 shoddy service complaints.
