Sanya launches special traffic campaign on non-motor vehicles across city
In line with the new Hainan traffic law, which took effect on March 1st, a special campaign on traffic violations around Sanya city was launched on March 3rd.
The citywide campaign targets non-motor vehicles and pedestrians that violate traffic rules such as running red lights, overloading and driving on non-designated lanes.
On March 3rd, the Sanya police set up 25 checkpoints at the city’s major intersections including Jiyang Town, Chuangye Building, Xinfeng Street, and Sanya Airport. More than 5,000 copies of materials on traffic education were handed out to the public.
During the campaign, 230 pedestrians and cyclists were given verbal warnings for failing to obey the traffic regulations and 320 cases of illegal behaviors were handled.
