According to the organizing committee, the number of sailing teams confirmed to participate in the 5th Round Hainan Regatta 2014 exceeds 50, setting a record high in the tournament history. 

 

The 10-day sailing race, which will run from March 19th to 28th, will sets starting point and finish line in Sanya, with Haikou and Wanning as stopover cities. Currently, 55 sailing teams have been confirmed to take part in the event.

 

This year’s race also features the participation of Team Dongfeng, the only Chinese sailing team for 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race.

 

With the rich experience in holding international sports events, the government is making more efforts to build a reputation for sailing in Hainan, and also hope the annual race will give another boost to the island’s tourism.
