Construction work on Sanya’s first earthquake emergency shelter has been 85% completed and is expected to be put into use in May of this year.

The earthquake emergency shelter, located at the Sanya Mangrove Park, is designed as a safe haven for Sanya residents in case of natural disasters such as an earthquake or fire.

The shelter is built in accordance with the Type-II standard. The shelter will be able to hold 20,000 people in case of disasters.

The shelter in the park is equipped with power and water supplies, mobile toilets, emergency exits, parking spaces, fire-prevention facilities, restrooms and storehouses that are capable of providing for the basic needs, the healthcare and other essentials needed to sustain life.
