Construction will begin on a joint cultural tourism holiday resort between China and Thailand in Haikou in 2015 with a total investment of RMB 6 billion yuan.

Located at the Shishan Township, Xiuying District of Haikou, the joint tourism development project is 15 km away from downtown Haikou and 28 km from Haikou Meilan International Airport.

The project covers a planned area of 4 square kilometers, featuring a Thailand cultural square, water market, hot-spring holiday resort, international conference center, leisure sports center, eco-landscape zone, as well as other public supporting facilities such as schools and hospitals.

The whole development project is set to be completed within 6 years and the first phase of the project involves an investment of RMB 100 billion.
