A new Sanya city management plan to integrate 6 towns into 4 districts has been approved for implementation by the State Council recently.

Sanya currently is divided into 2 administrative districts—Hedong District and Hexi District, which administrate 6 towns. They are the Haitang Bay Town, Jiyang Town, Fenghuang Town, Yacheng Town, Tianya Town and Yucai Town.

After the implementation, the 4 new districts will be Jiyang District, Fenghuang District, Haitang District and Yazhou District.

The new plan aims at adapting to Sanya’s economic transformation and meeting the requirements of urbanization and promoting adjustments and optimization to the industrial structure and layout there.
